The $ 7.6 million Bellaire Boulevard roadway reconstruction and bridge project is within 90 days of completion. The new concrete roadway with drainage improvements, traffic signals, pedestrian lighting, and new bridge design will enhance Southside Place for many years. During the past decade, Southside Place City Council has secured over $ 8 million in transportation and grant funding from METRO, TXDOT, and Harris County. The new municipal building is on schedule for completion in mid February, 2010. Brick sidewalk pavers will soon be installed on Edloe and University in the Town Center District. A city hall grand opening celebration is being planned. | Merry Mulching To All 12/21/09 The City of Southside Place will be recycling holiday trees for the eighth consecutive year. Please have your tree at the curb by January 12 for pick-up. Holiday mulch will be made available to residents after January 14. Please call city hall if you would like delivery.

Please remember that parking is not allowed on Southside Place streets between the hours of 1 AM and 6 AM. Parking facing the wrong way on a city street is dangerous and illegal according to state traffic laws. In addition, parking is prohibited across sidewalks where children and adults walk or use mobility scooters. During the October 13 regular council meeting, the city's 2009 proposed tax rate and FY 2010 budget were reviewed. The city's proposed 2009 tax rate is .347833 per $100 valuation. The Maintenance & Operations (M & O) portion of the tax rate at .223220 is slightly lower from 2008. The new debt rate is proposed at .124613. Debt includes monies for the park clubhouse acquisition, city hall construction, and recent water/sewer infrastructure improvements. The city acquired the clubhouse in June, 2008. City hall construction is expected to conclude in February, 2010. New residential water lines were completed in October, 2008. The overall proposed 2009 tax rate remains lower than Bellaire and West University Place. No large capital projects are proposed this year. Copies of the FY 2009-2010 budget are also available for public review at city hall.

Tax bills will be mailed out to residents and commercial businesses the last week of October. "Homestead Exemptions Not Available" are printed on all residential bills. The average appraised home value in Southside Place is $ 968,390.

| Welcome to the City of Southside Place
Southside Place is a residential and commercial area, with its residential streets alphabetized. Its Boundaries run north to University and south to Grammercy, then east from Edloe, west to the 4200 block of Bellaire with Auden as the west edge of the alphabetized streets, with Fire Truck Park, clubhouse, pool and softball field in the middle. Southside Place with only 430 homes and 1,530 residents, has managed to keep its small town, family oriented atmosphere even when some of the surrounding areas have gone "big city." Southside Place has its own mayor, city manager, five council members, a police chief, a Police Department and a volunteer fire department. |

Fiscal Year 2009 Budget Summary 1/01/09
During the September council meeting, the city's FY 2009 budget of $ 3 million was approved. Capital infrastructure projects totaling some $ 10.1 Million consisting of a new municipal complex, Bellaire Boulevard roadway and bridge replacement, and new water and sewer lines throughout the residential and commercial district will be completed in 2010. The 2009 tax rate is .347833 cents per $ 100 valuation. Relining of the Bellaire Boulevard water well will be completed by the summer of 2009.
